Transport Control Department requirements:
A person importing a private motor car must be the first owner and have owned the vehicle for not more than six months prior to the date of the shipment to Bermuda. Private motorcars which had more than one owner may not be imported into Bermuda.This includes demonstration models (demos), which are considered used cars.

IMPORTED PRIVATE MOTOR CARS MUST NOT EXCEED THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATIONS:
Maximum length 175 inches Maximum width 71 inches Maximum engine capacity 2,500 cubic centimeters Maximum power to weight ratio 10.5 kilograms per kilowatt
Before importing any vehicle into Bermuda, the Transport Control Department should be advised of the specific make andmodel for import approval. Application may be submitted by mail or hand. The applicant must include a personal letter and documents to include the manufacturer showroom brochure, which usually contains the car’s curb weight and engine output(horsepower).An Emissions Certificate is required before importation. The Director, prior to the purchase of the car, mustapprove the application, in writing. The Collector of Customs will also require a letter of approval before the vehicle will bereleased.
THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS ARE REQUIRED FOR THE INITIAL INSPECTION BY T.C.D.:1. Bill of Sale 2. Certification of title 3. Overseas vehicle registration 4. Owner’s handbook and vehicle brochure
Class of car is determined by the length of the vehicle. No class of vehicle must exceed 71 inches in width.
